हर साल लाखों students Common Admission Test (CAT) देते हैं और सोचते हैं:
“बस CAT crack कर लिया तो IIM पक्का।”
लेकिन सच्चाई इससे काफी अलग है।
भारत के top Indian Institute of Management Bangalore जैसे IIMs में admission सिर्फ CAT percentile से तय नहीं होता।
कई बार 99 percentile लाने वाले students भी reject हो जाते हैं, जबकि comparatively lower percentile वाले students final shortlist में जगह बना लेते हैं।
अगर आप भी सोचते हैं कि सिर्फ CAT clear करके IIM पहुंच जाएंगे, तो आपको पूरी admission reality समझनी चाहिए।
CAT सिर्फ पहला Gate है, Final Selection नहीं
IIM Bangalore के official admission document के अनुसार, CAT सिर्फ first shortlist के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है।
मतलब:
CAT clear करना जरूरी है
लेकिन सिर्फ CAT से final admission नहीं मिलता।
यह सिर्फ पहला दरवाजा खोलता है।
IIM Bangalore का Minimum CAT Cutoff क्या है?
General category students के लिए minimum percentile:
• VARC – 80
• DILR – 75
• QA – 75
• Overall – 85
लेकिन ध्यान दें:
ये सिर्फ minimum shortlist cutoff है।
असल में interview call पाने वालों का percentile अक्सर इससे काफी ज्यादा होता है।
यानि 85 percentile technically eligible बना सकता है, admission almost impossible रहेगा।
CAT Score को सिर्फ 55% Weightage मिलता है (Pre-PI Stage)
सबसे बड़ा surprise यही है।
IIM Bangalore के अनुसार pre-interview shortlisting में CAT की weightage सिर्फ 55 points होती है।
बाकी weightage जाती है:
• 10th Marks – 10
• 12th Marks – 10
• Bachelor’s Score – 10
• Work Experience / Professional Course – 10
• Gender Diversity – 5
यानी अगर आपके academics weak हैं, तो CAT percentile alone compensate नहीं कर पाएगा।
आपके 10th और 12th Marks भी बहुत Matter करते हैं
कई students सोचते हैं:
“School marks का MBA admission से क्या लेना-देना?”
लेकिन IIM Bangalore shortlisting में:
• 10th board score
• 12th board score
दोनों को significant weightage मिलती है।
अगर academics average हैं, तो high CAT percentile के बावजूद नुकसान हो सकता है।
Graduation Marks भी Final Shortlist में Game बदलते हैं
Bachelor’s score को भी 10 points weightage मिलती है।
यानि अगर आपकी graduation performance weak रही, तो CAT score advantage कम हो सकता है।
बहुत students यही mistake करते हैं:
College marks ignore करना।
और बाद में regret करते हैं।
Work Experience Huge Advantage देता है
अगर आपके पास relevant work experience है तो बड़ा फायदा मिलता है।
IIM Bangalore work experience को structured score देता है।
0–36 months तक weightage बढ़ती है और 36 months या उससे ज्यादा पर full score मिलता है।
यानि fresher होना disadvantage बन सकता है।
Professional Courses भी Boost देते हैं
अगर आपने किया है:
• CA
• CS
• CMA
तो आपको additional professional weightage मिल सकती है।
यही कारण है कि कई CA students comparatively lower CAT percentile पर भी strong profile बना लेते हैं।
CAT के बाद Personal Interview सबसे बड़ा Decider है
बहुत students CAT के बाद relaxed हो जाते हैं।
यहीं सबसे बड़ी गलती होती है।
Final selection stage में:
• Personal Interview – 40 points
• WAT – 10 points
• CAT – सिर्फ 25 points
यानि interview performance CAT से ज्यादा powerful हो जाता है।
Written Ability Test (WAT) भी जरूरी है
Interview के साथ students को 30 मिनट का written note लिखना होता है।
यह evaluate करता है:
• Clarity of thought
• Analytical thinking
• Writing style
• Business awareness
अगर writing weak है तो नुकसान होगा।
Fake Work Experience पकड़ा गया तो 3 साल Ban
IIM Bangalore बहुत strict है।
अगर किसी candidate ने fake work experience claim किया तो:
• Admission cancel
• अगले 3 साल तक IIMB application ban
यानि profile building genuine होनी चाहिए।
Statement of Purpose और References भी Mandatory हैं
Application में चाहिए:
• SOP
• Two online reference letters
• Academic transcripts

यानि आपका overall personality profile judge होता है, सिर्फ CAT नहीं।

कई students सिर्फ CAT coaching पर focus करते हैं और बाकी चीजें ignore कर देते हैं:
• Poor graduation CGPA
• No profile building
• Weak communication skills

अगर IIM target है तो अभी से focus करें:
• Strong academics
• CAT preparation
• Communication skills
• SOP writing
• Mock interviews
• Internship / work exposure
• Reading habit
यही complete profile बनाता है।

IIM सिर्फ exam toppers नहीं चुनता।

IIM में admission के लिए सिर्फ CAT crack करना काफी नहीं है।
CAT सिर्फ पहला step है। Final selection में academics, work experience, SOP, references, WAT और personal interview equally important role निभाते हैं।
अगर सच में IIM जाना है, तो सिर्फ exam नहीं, पूरी profile मजबूत करनी होगी।
